Community First Bank and Trust Book Drive

Randolph Howell Elementary School’s library got an early holiday gift from Community First Bank & Trust employees who pooled their Giving First Funds to supply books for the school library. Stephanie Grimaud and Cindy Miller, of Community First Bank & Trust, pooled their Giving First Funds to purchase books for the school where Grimaud’s daughter attends. “I really wanted to do something for the school; we love it there and everyone works so hard. As with many schools and businesses, resources can be slim, so I asked Cindy to pool her funds with mine and we got friends to donate books also,” said Grimaud.

Librarian Beth Hamilton commented, “I am thrilled to have this donation for our school. It’s so exciting to be refreshed with new books for our students!” Community First Bank donated over 400 books that were delivered before the Thanksgiving holidays. “It won’t take long for our students to dig into these new books,” reported Michael Ford, principal at Howell Elementary. “They are eager to see what additions the library has.”

Community First Bank launched Giving First in June of 2010 as an annual tradition and it enables employees to make a philanthropic decision on behalf of the bank. The bank distributed $50 to each of its employees and board members, and challenged them to use creativity to pay it forward by contributing to a local charity or needy family.
