Community First Bank & Trust Partners with SOC for the 2nd Annual State of Our Community Convention

Columbia, TN – Community First Bank and Trust is partnering with the State of Our Community on Saturday, October 19, 2013, to host the 2nd Annual State of Our Community Convention.

Founded by community strategists, Chris Poynter and Rev. Trent Ogilvie, SOC began to create positive dialogue about the issues and opportunities that affect our community. SOC took the core essence of motivating people with a positive mission and began a living breathing movement where our community can experience enlightenment in the E3 Objective: Education, Economics, and Empowerment.

Kicking off this dynamic day at 9 a.m., SOC will host Convocation for all youth grades K-12, as they recognize all students from grades K-12 and honor former students of Maury County Schools.  The event will be held at Highland Park Elementary School from 9a.m.-3p.m.  The keynote speaker for the Convocation is Mr. Antwan Booker, an accomplished attorney and graduate of Central High School.  In addition to the morning convocation, the SOC Convention will feature a lifelong learning and social service component to the entire day. There will be breakout seminars throughout the day focused on the importance of financial awareness in education and life experiences. Several social service agencies, organizations, businesses, and churches will host booths staffed by caring individuals focused on educating and empowering the communities that they serve with valuable resources to improve the lives of our citizens. The SOC Convention will offer a Basketball Camp, Kids Fun Zone, Arts and Crafts, computer learning academy for parents, free food, prizes, and so much valuable information that those who attend will be empowered personally to change their community collectively.  The SOC movement is designed to equip individuals with impactful knowledge in the areas of education, economics, and empowerment, so that our community continues to thrive by changing our community one person at a time.  A complete list of the SOC Convention agenda and community agencies attending the event is available at www.soctn.com or by contacting one of the event organizers listed above.
